Notes from Jessica as she returned home to D.C.

Sweat was trickling down my back and into my eyes and my feet were throbbing and swelling. My healthy 24yr old body was sore and tired; I wanted to sit down. But then I looked up and saw Posty-a seventyish man who was sweating and whose feet were no doubt throbbing, but, instead of sitting down-he was standing up and fighting back against the cancer inside of him. He was sharing his cancer story and he was getting countless others to share theirs. Not only did Posty ride a 70 mile leg of RAGBRAI, he then came to volunteer for hours upon hours at our booth with bounds of energy, optimism and determination.

I've returned from RAGBRAI, and as I sit in the comfort of my air-conditioned apartment with the familiarity of my own bed-I think about Posty, and the countless others who have been fighting back against cancer. Posty and the others refuse to sit down-even if their feet are throbbing and sweat is trickling into their eyes.

Our Crowning Moment, Miss Iowa Does Picture A Cure

Miss Iowa Diana Reed, stopped by the Mobile Action Center and told her personal cancer story by completing our Electronic Picture a Cure Form.

Under the Dome!

Its the start of another hot day here at RAGBRAI!

Today, you will find the ACS CAN Mobile Action Center in Cedar Falls, home of the University of Northern Iowa.

We are in the shadow of the huge UNI DOME and this college town has welcomed us with open arms. Right next to our Mobile Action Center is the local Colleges Against Cancer and UNI Relay booth. We have quite the visual with a sea of purple shirts and Relay logos.

Everyone is all abuzz about the Blues Traveler concert tonight at the DOME. Last night, everyone who we met was talking about the concert. So I have a feeling that today is going to be the busiest yet!

Speaking of busy, I better help Christopher set up more t-shirts and towels, but we'll post back later and even put up some new pics! -joe
