After the alarm went off at 4:15 this morning I have to say I wasn't exactly thrilled to go to the airport. But, I've finally arrived in Hampton, Iowa and am thrilled to be here.
The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network's Mobile Action Center is amazing. The van is great and people have been swarming the tent doing the Picture A Cure activity, decorating luminiaria bags and sharing their cancer stories with all of us to remember once we're home.
It's only going to get better, it's still early in the day and every minute more and more people are coming to town!

Reinforcements have arrived!
Today, we said goodbye to Joy and Jessica as they did their tour with the Mobile Advocacy Center and are heading home to their own families and own bed! Luckily Erin O'Neill and Kerry Roberts are going to join us today and help us get more Picture a Cures and hand out more t-shirts.
This morning, we are set up in Hampton Iowa, in the town square. They have a beautiful courthouse in the center of town and we are set up on the Southeast corner. So if you are in the area, stop by, say hello and get your free t-shirt!

Humbled in Humboldt
Whew! What a whirlwind of a day in Humboldt Iowa!
We had a prime spot in downtown Humboldt and luckily we were positioned right next to two pizza vendors, so we had no trouble finding eager volunteers to tell their cancer story and sign our Fight Back Relay banner.
What amazed us the most about our experience in Humboldt was the generosity and spirit of our volunteers. All through the day, local ACS volunteers came to staff our Mobile Action Center and worked to recruit more volunteers to tell their story to Congress.
I must admit, we had been a little road weary from our first couple of days on the road, but hearing the amazing stories of our volunteers gave us the push to move on.
We have collected over 500 Picture a Cure Stories and have handed out thousands of towels and tshirts.
Let's see if we can turn RAGBRAI relay purple......... In fact, I'm going to start now!
