Spencer RAGBRAI is rockin!

Its 5:30pm here in Spencer and we have been having a blast. As soon as we had set up our Mobile Action Center, there has been a non-stop flow of riders and new volunteers who have been happily stepping up to do Electronic Picture a Cure. With temperatures in the mid 90's and tons of humidity, our ACS CAN towels have been one of the must haves for this stop at RAGBRAI.

Right now, the local channel 9 newstation stopped by with their reporter to do news stories on our riders. The stories are amazing and there wasn't a dry eye around when one of our riders told her story of how she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at 15 and was told she would not live to graduate high school. 35 years later she is still here and is going to ride the 477 miles across Iowa! We congratulate her on her first 70 miles she did today and we will be rooting her on to the finish line in Bellevue!

Well, the tent is getting busy again and help is needed with eager new Picture a Cure volunteers, so I'm going to run! -Joe Franco

What an inspirational story! Keep up the good work from the road. It is definitely worth the long days, heat and humidity to capture all of these stories that demonstrate the need for more cancer research funding. You rock ACS team!
